במרץ 2018 נולדו לליאנדרה מדין-כהן, אחת ממשפיעניות האופנה המוכרות בעולם, תאומות מתוקות בשם לורה ומדלן. מאז, הפך עמוד האינסטגרם של האימא האופנתית ליומן צבעוני במיוחד של צמד הפעוטות והן עצמן – למובילות אופנת קטנטנים בהתהוות.

כמו רבות ממובילות הדעה הוויראליות מדין מרבה לשתף ברגעים מהחיים האישיים. היא גם שיתפה בתהליך הלא פשוט והפרטי שעברה כדי להפוך לאימא. כיום, כשהתאומות כבר בנות למעלה משנה וחצי אפשר בעיקר ליהנות מהקסם האופנתי הצבעוני וההרפתקני שהאימא המיוחדת מרעיפה עליהן.

ממש כמו הנוכחות של ליאנדרה בזירה הוויראלית, גם התאומות לבית מדין לא מציגות נוכחות אופנתית מתוקתקת, מוקפדת ולא נגישה. חבילות חלומיות עם בגדים שווים בוודאי מגיעות כל יום למפתן ביתן אבל הן תמיד מתועדות בפריימים טבעיים ולא מעושים מדי, וכמעט ולא בתפאורה מושלמת שאף צעצוע סורר לא מפר אותה.

ובכל זאת, לא מדובר כאן בילדות אפופה בחליפות גן מז'אנר ה'שלוש במאה'. לורה ומדלן מטפחות מלתחה מעניינת וככל שהן גדלות היא משתדרגת ויוצאת מאזורי הנוחות של הזחילה וההחלפות התכופות.

נדמה שמדין לא בחרה באסטרטגיית הלבשה נוקשה. לפעמים היא מלבישה אותן באופן זהה ולפעמים באופן שונה לחלוטין. הן מתועדות גם באאוטפיטים תואמים שמעצימים את אפקט המתיקות של חיי התאומות וגם במערכות לבוש שונות שמתכתבות זו עם זו בצורה אקלקטית.

אימא ליאנדרה לא שוכחת, כמובן, להשקיע באקססוריז שווים. לתאומות הניו-יורקיות יש מגוון מרשים של אביזרי שיער, מטפחות ונעליים. האם אפשר להכריז על תחרות חדשה לאחיות אולסן שגדלו והתפתחו לנו אופנתית מול העיניים? נמשיך ונעקוב.

Ppl told me parenthood would take my breath away but I did not expect that it would also take my words away. I have been trying for months to articulate the sensation of becoming a mom but it’s been too huge to distill. Last month my dad and brother climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and I loved the way my brother explained the process to me, refusing to sensationalize any part of it. “Just a bunch of steps,” he said. What an approach! it’s the ultimate metaphor for motherhood (and life). When you look at the top of a mountain from the bottom, you wonder how the hell you’re going to get up there. If it is even possible. Often you convince yourself that it’s not and just keep distracting yourself at the bottom but if you just do what you know how to do, put one foot ahead of the other, keep taking steps, just walking, you get there. Sometimes it will thrill you or exhaust you, challenge or scare the hell out of you; often it will be tedious, redundant — how many more of these forsaken steps! — it will force you to confront the grisliest parts of yourself, to correct and keep climbing. During especially spirited sparks, it will crack your heart open, then knock you back down and just when you’ve convinced yourself that you were right when you were at the bottom — it’s impossible to get to the top, you’ll lift your head and realize that your kids are 1, you’re out of a bad relationship, in a new job. Wtvr. You reached the top of the mountain! And you’re not just still alive, but a whole lot fuller. As Scott Galloway says, life is rich. Happy birthday sweet daughters of mine
